With this exhibition, Ina Boesch and Forum Schlossplatz Aarau offer an alternative to the male-oriented canon by placing the spotlight on the artistic and social contributions to Dada made by women.  The main focus is on five of the better-known female Dada representatives from Zurich, New York, Berlin, Cologne and Paris, respectively: Sophie Taeuber, Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven, Hannah Höch, Angelika Hoerle and Céline Arnauld. Their work inspired a contemporary response from five renowned Swiss video artists: Anka Schmid, Elodie Pong, Judith Albert, Chantal Romani and Anne-Julie Raccoursier. Also on show is a gallery of almost 60 never or hardly ever acknowledged female artists from the Dada environment, inviting audiences to reflect on the role of women in one of the 20th century’s most important artistic movements.
